Whoever wants to be saved<\/span>
\nshould above all cling to the catholic faith.<\/span>
\nWhoever does not guard it whole and inviolable<\/span>
\nwill doubtless perish eternally.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now this is the catholic faith:<\/span>
\nWe worship one God in trinity<\/span>
\nand the Trinity in unity,<\/span>
\nneither confusing the persons<\/span>
\nnor dividing the divine being.<\/span>
\nFor the Father is one person,<\/span>
\nthe Son is another,<\/span>
\nand the Spirit is still another.<\/span>
\nBut the deity of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit<\/span>
\nis one, equal in glory,<\/span>
\ncoeternal in majesty.<\/span>
\nWhat the Father is,<\/span>
\nthe Son is,<\/span>
\nand so is the Holy Spirit.<\/span><\/p>\n

Uncreated is the Father;<\/span>
\nuncreated is the Son;<\/span>
\nuncreated is the Spirit.<\/span>
\nThe Father is infinite;<\/span>
\nthe Son is infinite;<\/span>
\nthe Holy Spirit is infinite.<\/span>
\nEternal is the Father;<\/span>
\neternal is the Son;<\/span>
\neternal is the Spirit:<\/span>
\nAnd yet there are not three eternal beings,<\/span>
\nbut one who is eternal;<\/span>
\nas there are not three uncreated and unlimited beings,<\/span>
\nbut one who is uncreated and unlimited.<\/span>
\nAlmighty is the Father;<\/span>
\nalmighty is the Son;<\/span>
\nalmighty is the Spirit:<\/span>
\nAnd yet there are not three almighty beings,<\/span>
\nbut one who is almighty.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thus the Father is God;<\/span>
\nthe Son is God;<\/span>
\nthe Holy Spirit is God:<\/span>
\nAnd yet there are not three gods,<\/span>
\nbut one God.<\/span>
\nThus the Father is Lord;<\/span>
\nthe Son is Lord;<\/span>
\nthe Holy Spirit is Lord:<\/span>
\nAnd yet there are not three lords,<\/span>
\nbut one Lord.<\/span>
\nAs Christian truth compels us to acknowledge<\/span>
\neach distinct person as God and Lord,<\/span>
\nso catholic religion forbids us<\/span>
\nto say that there are three gods or lords.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Father was neither made<\/span>
\nnor created nor begotten;<\/span>
\nthe Son was neither made nor created,<\/span>
\nbut was alone begotten of the Father;<\/span>
\nthe Spirit was neither made nor created,<\/span>
\nbut is proceeding from the Father and the Son.<\/span>
\nThus there is one Father, not three fathers;<\/span>
\none Son, not three sons;<\/span>
\none Holy Spirit, not three spirits.<\/span><\/p>\n

And in this Trinity, no one is before or after,<\/span>
\ngreater or less than the other;<\/span>
\nbut all three persons are in themselves, coeternal and coequal;<\/span>
\nand so we must worship the Trinity in unity<\/span>
\nand the one God in three persons.<\/span><\/p>\n

Whoever wants to be saved should think thus about the Trinity.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is necessary for eternal salvation that one also faithfully believe<\/span>
\nthat our Lord Jesus became flesh.<\/span><\/p>\n

For this is the true faith that we believe and confess:<\/span>
\nThat our Lord Jesus Christ, God\u2019s Son,<\/span>
\nis both God and man.<\/span>
\nHe is God, begotten before all worlds<\/span>
\nfrom the being of the Father,<\/span>
\nand he is man, born in the world<\/span>
\nfrom the being of his mother\u2013<\/span>
\nexisting fully as God,<\/span>
\nand fully as man<\/span>
\nwith a rational soul and a human body;<\/span>
\nequal to the Father in divinity,<\/span>
\nsubordinate to the Father in humanity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Although he is God and man,<\/span>
\nhe is not divided,<\/span>
\nbut is one Christ.<\/span>
\nHe is united because God<\/span>
\nhas taken humanity into himself;<\/span>
\nhe does not transform deity into humanity.<\/span>
\nHe is completely one in the unity of his person,<\/span>
\nwithout confusing his natures.<\/span>
\nFor as the rational soul and body are one person,<\/span>
\nso the one Christ is God and man.<\/span><\/p>\n

He suffered death for our salvation.<\/span>
\nHe descended into hell<\/span>
\nand rose again from the dead.<\/span>
\nHe ascended into heaven<\/span>
\nand is seated at the right hand of the Father.<\/span>
\nHe will come again to judge the living and the dead.<\/span><\/p>\n

At his coming all people shall rise bodily<\/span>
\nto give an account of their own deeds.<\/span>
\nThose who have done good will enter eternal life,<\/span>
\nthose who have done evil will enter eternal fire.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the catholic faith.<\/span>
\nOne cannot be saved<\/span>
\nwithout believing this firmly and faithfully.<\/span><\/p>\n
