Witness & Fellowship Ministry Team

Witness and Fellowship Ministry Team Charter

Purpose:

To care for all present and future members of the congregation. To foster hunger for new expressions of membership within the congregation.

Ground Rules:

Keep Christ in the focus. Conduct meetings in a timely and focused fashion. Work together with respect for others opinion as we work toward consensus decisions.

Responsibilities:

Identifying and attracting new members, assimilation of new members, continuously equipping the membership of the congregation with witness skills and a desire to engage others with the Good News of Jesus Christ, planning and implementation of fellowship opportunities, Women of Trinity, Lutheran Men in Mission, Leisure Ministries (campground chaplain), monitoring the activities of the Lutheran/Episcopal Joint Study Committee, and coordination of volunteer ministries. Form subcommittees and task forces as needed. Oversee the goals and the implementation of goals of the subcommittees.

Meetings:

The team will meet regularly and as a minimum quarterly. It will meet twice a month until the subcommittee structure is in place. Subcommittees will meet as necessary to accomplish their responsibilities. Have annual meetings amongst all five ministry teams.

Budget:

The Witness and Fellowship Ministry Team will be responsible for monetary expenses as related to the witness and fellowship activities of the congregation in accordance with the budget of the current fiscal year. The team will have the latitude to reappropriate funds within its budget categories. The necessity to expend funds related to the witness and fellowship activities beyond the current budget will be referred to the Congregation Council for its authorization.

Boundaries:

The Congregation Council has transferred primary responsibility for witness, evangelism, and fellowship to the Witness and Fellowship Team. The subcommittees of this team will report to the team, and the team liaison will report to the Council any pertinent information. If a subcommittee’s activities fall into multiple ministry team areas of interest, the Ministry Team that it is assigned to as a subcommittee will take precedence of final responsibility with Council intervention if needed.

Measure of Success:

The team will regularly receive comments on goals and objectives from its subcommittees and task forces. Soliciting direct comments from new members of the congregation will be of great value. Mutual assessment by the five ministry teams might also prove helpful.
